Please note: due to current import restrictions on unpasteurised cheeses, Fleur des Alpes is temporarily replacing Reblochon as a very similar pasteurised alternative.
Fleur des Alpes is a semi-soft, washed rind, smear-ripened mountain cheese made from pasteurised cows milk. It is well aged in an airy cellar, and you can see the effects of that ageing in the rind, which is covered with a fine white mould.
The style originated in the heart of the Massif des Aravis, in the Thônes region of Haute-Savoie. Thirteenth-century fables tell of Savoie herdsmen who deliberately carried out an incomplete milking to reduce their taxable production, then returned to finish the job once the rent had been paid to the landowners. That second, richer milking is where the tradition comes from.
How much to buy
A whole cheese weighs approximately 450 to 500g.
All cheeses are hand cut, therefore the weights listed are approximate. We work very hard to cut them as accurately as we can and happy to offer advice on purchasing the right amount if you are unsure. If you would like a price for larger weights or whole cheeses, please call us.
Delivery
Your cheese is cut fresh to order, wrapped and packed by hand and delivered on the day you choose. We deliver across the UK from Tuesday to Friday each week. If you are ordering for a gift or special occasion we advise you to always allow an extra day in case of any unforeseen courier delays.
Recipe / pairing suggestion
The cheese for a proper tartiflette, layered with potatoes, bacon and onions. On a board, serve it with charcuterie and a dry Savoie white.
Not Reblochon, but the closest thing available while the import rules stand. Still makes a proper tartiflette.

How should I store my cheese once it arrives?
Cheese is best kept in the fridge wrapped in the waxed paper or packaging it arrives in. Avoid plastic wrap, as cheese needs to breathe.
How long will my cheese last?
Most cheeses will last 1-2 weeks if stored properly. Harder cheeses tend to last longer than soft cheeses.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes, we deliver throughout the UK mainland. Some remote areas may have longer delivery times.
When will my cheese order arrive?
Orders placed before 12pm are dispatched the same day for next-day delivery. We deliver Tuesday to Friday.
Is your cheese pasteurised?
We stock both pasteurised and unpasteurised cheeses. Each product page clearly states whether the cheese is pasteurised.
