Description
Parmigiano Reggiano is a classic Italian cheese with a hard, grainy texture and flavours reminiscent of fresh pineapple and citrus fruit. Aged for a minimum of two years, it is excellent with ripe fresh fruit and with every pasta dish you can think of.
It has been part of Italian life for a very long time. The writer Boccaccio mentioned it in the Decameron in 1348, and the English diarist Samuel Pepys buried his Parmesan to save it from the Great Fire of London in 1666.
The Parmigiano Reggiano name is protected under European law, holding Protected Designation of Origin status, which restricts production to a defined area of northern Italy under strict rules.
How much to buy
All cheeses are hand cut, therefore the weights listed are approximate. We work very hard to cut them as accurately as we can and happy to offer advice on purchasing the right amount if you are unsure. If you would like a price for larger weights or whole cheeses, please call us.
Delivery
Your cheese is cut fresh to order, wrapped and packed by hand and delivered on the day you choose. We deliver across the UK from Tuesday to Friday each week. If you are ordering for a gift or special occasion we advise you to always allow an extra day in case of any unforeseen courier delays.
Recipe / pairing suggestion
Break it into shards with a proper Parmesan knife rather than slicing it. Good with ripe pears, aged balsamic and a glass of Lambrusco.
Snap it into rough shards, never slice it. Two years of work goes into those crunchy crystals.

Cheese is best kept in the fridge wrapped in the waxed paper or packaging it arrives in. Avoid plastic wrap, as cheese needs to breathe.
How long will my cheese last?
Most cheeses will last 1-2 weeks if stored properly. Harder cheeses tend to last longer than soft cheeses.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes, we deliver throughout the UK mainland. Some remote areas may have longer delivery times.
When will my cheese order arrive?
Orders placed before 12pm are dispatched the same day for next-day delivery. We deliver Tuesday to Friday.
Is your cheese pasteurised?
We stock both pasteurised and unpasteurised cheeses. Each product page clearly states whether the cheese is pasteurised.
