Wensleydale with Cranberries

Wensleydale with Cranberries is a hand-made Yorkshire cheese sold fresh and young. It has a sweet flavour carrying the fruity succulence of juicy cranberries with honeyed undertones.

Wensleydale is a historic fresh, mild cheese that has been made in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire since 1150 by Cistercian monks. They continued making it until the dissolution of their monasteries in 1540. Sheep's milk was used traditionally, though cows milk came into use over time.

The art of making the cheese passed from the monks to the farmers' wives, who produced a blue variety at their farmhouses. Today Wensleydale is produced mainly from pasteurised cows milk, sometimes with sheep's milk added to enhance the flavour.

It really depends on the occasion, and, of course, how much you love cheese!

As a general guide, for a cheeseboard serving 6 people, we recommend allowing 40–60g of each cheese per person, with 3–4 different cheeses at around 250g each. This gives you a good variety of flavours and textures, with enough for everyone to enjoy without creating too much leftover cheese.

For parties, weddings, events or larger gatherings, the amount you’ll need can vary depending on how the cheese is being served and what else you’re offering. Our cheesemongers are always happy to help, so please get in touch by phone or email for personalised advice.

Please note: all cheeses are cut by hand; therefore, the weights listed are approximate. We work very hard to cut them as accurately as we can.  

We send our cheese by Royal Mail Tracked 24, with next-day delivery available across all UK postcodes for £4.99 per parcel. Orders over £60 qualify for free delivery.

We carefully pack every order to help keep your cheese in the best possible condition during transit. Royal Mail are very reliable, and most parcels arrive within 24 hours, but occasional delays can happen.

If you’re ordering cheese for a special occasion, party or event, we recommend having it delivered a couple of days beforehand. This gives you some extra time in case of an unexpected courier delay and allows the cheese to rest and reach its best before serving.

We currently deliver throughout the UK but do not offer international delivery.

Every order is cut and packed by hand, fresh to order by our team of cheesemongers.

Your cheese is wrapped in breathable waxed paper, which allows it to breathe while helping to protect it during transit and in your fridge. It is then placed inside a thermal foil pouch with a frozen gel pack to keep it cool on its journey. The gel pack will naturally defrost during transit; this is completely normal.

Finally, everything is carefully packed into a branded box to keep your order safe and presentable when it arrives.

We’re also conscious of the environmental impact of packaging. Around 95% of our packaging is recyclable or reusable, and we’re continually looking for ways to reduce waste and make our business more sustainable. We believe great cheese should be enjoyed with consideration for the planet, too.

When a cheese comes with additional fruityness you don't want overpowering flavors layered ontop of that. Sourdough crackers add a wonderful crunch and a lovely toasty flavour that works perfectly with the fruity, creaminess of the cheese.
