Taleggio

Taleggio is a fine Italian cheese named after the caves of Val Taleggio, near a small town in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Soft, supple and buttery with a lactic flavour, it is the perfect summer cheese.

The washed and smear ripened rind develops a soft pinky grey hue over a meltingly characterful paste. The cheese is washed with a seawater sponge to prevent mould growth and to build that distinctive colour, and the rind is imprinted with a four-leaf brand to identify its origins.

Traditionally served after a meal with a selection of fruits. We like it with fresh apricots and strawberries, or used through a meal, since it melts beautifully.

A whole cheese weighs approximately 2kg.

Your cheese is cut fresh to order, wrapped and packed by hand and delivered on the day you choose. We deliver across the UK from Tuesday to Friday each week. If you are ordering for a gift or special occasion we advise you to always allow an extra day in case of any unforeseen courier delays.

Angela Hartnett famously used Taleggio as a pizza topping in place of mozzarella. We would also point you towards individual tarts: butter-cooked crisp apple wedges in a pre-baked pastry case, topped with slices of Taleggio and finished under the grill.
