Description

French Raclette is a semi-firm cows milk cheese from the Savoie region, known as the ultimate melting cheese. It has a supple texture and a nutty, gently aromatic character, with a pale yellow paste, a few small holes and a natural orange-beige rind.

Cold, it is mild and milky, with delicate notes of butter, cream and hazelnut. Heated, it transforms into something glossy and velvety, rich and savoury with hints of toasted nuts, caramelised onions and roasted garlic. The aroma deepens as it melts, revealing warm notes of hay and cellar and a gentle pungency that never overwhelms.

The melted texture is luxuriously smooth, coating potatoes or bread evenly without ever going stringy.

How much to buy

Sold as half and whole wheels. Each whole wheel is approximately 5kg.

All cheeses are hand cut, therefore the weights listed are approximate. We work very hard to cut them as accurately as we can and happy to offer advice on purchasing the right amount if you are unsure. If you would like a price for larger weights or whole cheeses, please call us.

Delivery

Your cheese is cut fresh to order, wrapped and packed by hand and delivered on the day you choose. We deliver across the UK from Tuesday to Friday each week. If you are ordering for a gift or special occasion we advise you to always allow an extra day in case of any unforeseen courier delays.

Recipe / pairing suggestion

Suggestion – DRIVERS SWEET CORNICHONS

Traditionally served with boiled potatoes, cured meats and cornichons. A dry white from the Savoie is the regional match.

The wheel is the showpiece. Scrape it straight onto the plate and let people help themselves.

FAQ

How should I store my cheese once it arrives?

Cheese is best kept in the fridge wrapped in the waxed paper or packaging it arrives in. Avoid plastic wrap, as cheese needs to breathe.

Do you deliver nationwide?

Is your cheese pasteurised?

We stock both pasteurised and unpasteurised cheeses. Each product page clearly states whether the cheese is pasteurised.
