Description
Black Bomber is the flagship cheese from the Snowdonia Cheese Company in Denbigh, North Wales, and it has done more than almost any other modern cheddar to change what people expect from the style. Under its glossy black wax you will find a pale golden paste that is dense and silky rather than crumbly, with a rich, rounded sweetness and a long, savoury finish that keeps pulling you back for another slice.
The name is well earned. This is a cheddar with real depth and a proper kick of maturity, but the texture stays smooth and creamy throughout, which is what sets it apart from drier extra matures. It has collected awards at Nantwich, the World Cheese Awards and a Super Gold at Mondial du Fromage, and it remains one of the most reliably popular cheeses on any board we build.
How much to buy
All cheeses are hand cut, therefore the weights listed are approximate. We work very hard to cut them as accurately as we can and happy to offer advice on purchasing the right amount if you are unsure. If you would like a price for larger weights or whole cheeses, please call us.
Delivery
Your cheese is cut fresh to order, wrapped and packed by hand and delivered on the day you choose. We deliver across the UK from Tuesday to Friday each week. If you are ordering for a gift or special occasion we advise you to always allow an extra day in case of any unforeseen courier delays.
Recipe / pairing suggestion
Suggestion – CHEESE LOVERS FIG CHUTNEY
Black Bomber is the backbone of a proper ploughman's, served with crusty bread, a sharp pickle and a crisp green apple. It also melts beautifully, so it is our first choice for a Welsh rarebit or a serious cheese toastie. Pour a golden ale or a full-bodied red alongside it.
Everything you want from an extra mature cheddar and none of the dryness. Rich, sweet, and endlessly moreish.
