Chocolate and Chilli Cheddar raises a key question: is it cheese, is it dessert, or is it both? Hartington Creamery has combined its classic Peakland White with cocoa, white chocolate pieces, and a dash of chilli to create a truly unique taste experience. Though unusual, this cheese is incredibly moreish and will satisfy both the need for a savoury and sweet flavour. It is also an ice-breaker at the dinner table!
Hartington Creamery has a great history, with the original creamery dating back to the 1870s, when it was founded by the Duke of Devonshire. They produced Hartington’s first cheese: a white, crumbly Derbyshire-style. The creamery managed to withstand dairy and creamery closures throughout the 20th and 21st centuries until it closed in 2009.
Hartingtons was reinstated in 2012 at Pikehill Farm. The company achieved a PDO license to produce Stilton in 2014, and has gone from strength to strength ever since! They now produce 16 cheeses of varying types, including a popular cheese from our Christmas 2023 Gift Box: Dovedale Blue.
Whilst chocolate and chilli is perhaps their most daring flavour combination, Hartington Creamery also produce Lemon and Lime, and Vodka with Orange cheeses!
