Blacksticks Blue Cheese comes from the award-winning Butlers’ Inglewhite Dairy in Lancashire. It is a British classic that has been called ‘the daddy of all blue cheeses’ by celebrity chef Simon Rimmer.
Blacksticks Blue is a golden-hued, blue-veined cheese with a creamy texture and a buttery distinctive bite made from pasteurised milk taken from the farm’s pedigree herd. The moderate blue in the cheese is not overpowering and will convert any who do not like blue cheeses. It has a moist dark exterior which contrasts nicely with the vibrant orange body of the cheese. The orange colour of the cheese is obtained by the use of Annatto which is a natural product of a South American shrub.
The ‘original’ modern-day blue cheese made in the traditional way, with the use of open vats and being turned by hand. The cheese is matured for eight weeks which allows it to develop its distinct colour and texture.
‘Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses is a true family business. There is no escaping it, we are a family, that’s what makes things exciting and these family values are the bedrock of our culture. Richard and Annie started it, Jean and Tom nurtured it. Gill and Colin opened it and the history page is just turning for Matthew and Daniel.’
Please note all cheeses are hand-cut, therefore the weights listed are approximate. We work very hard to cut them as accurately as we can!
