This honey goat’s cheese crostini with prosciutto and walnuts is the perfect blend of sweet, savoury, and crunchy—ideal for the colder months when rich flavours take centre stage.

Cabra Carino is a Spanish goat’s cheese infused with honey which has a lovely balance of lactic acidity and sweet flavours. The Cabra Carino is spread over toasted bread, topped with delicate slices of prosciutto, and finished with toasted walnuts for added crunch. It’s a delightful combination that feels both cosy and gourmet, making it an effortless yet sophisticated addition to your winter entertaining menu. Recipe: Honey Goat’s Cheese Crostini with Prosciutto and Walnuts

Ingredients:

1 Fresh 200g Baguette (slightly stale baguettes will also work well for this)

Olive oil – enough to brush each slice of bread, and for drizzling

250g Cabra Carino

15 Slices Prosciutto, each torn lengthways into two strips

100g Walnuts, chopped

Black Pepper, to taste

Method:

  1. Preheat your oven to 190 degrees C/170 degrees Fan.
  2. Slice the baguette diagonally across into slices around 1cm thick. You should be able to get approximately 25 slices out of a 200g baguette, but less or more is fine.
  3. Lay the bread slices on a lined baking tray and lightly brush each slice with olive oil, making sure to do both sides.
  4. Bake the slices for 5-7 minutes, then remove from the oven, flip the slices, and return to the oven for another 5-7 minutes until browned and crispy.
  5. Leave the crostini to cool completely before adding the toppings.
  6. Heat a small frying pan over a medium-high heat and add the walnuts. Stir them continuously in the pan until the begin to brown and smell toasted – this should take around 5 minutes. Remove from the pan, and place on a plate or baking sheet to cool.
  7. To assemble your crostinis, spread a healthy amount of Cabra Carino over your baked bread slices.
  8. Add one strip of prosciutto to each crostini, ensuring that it is folded so the meat is contained on top of the cheese.
  9. Repeat this step until all the bread slices are full.
  10. Place the slices on a baking sheet, and sprinkle the toasted walnuts over the top so that each crostini gets a nice helping.
  11. Drizzle with olive oil and season with black pepper as desired.
  12. Serve on a platter, and enjoy!

Bonus step:

  • Cabra Carino is a honey-infused goat’s cheese, but if you need more sweetness, add an extra drizzle of honey over your crostinis.
